Candela C-7

The first of its kind

In 2019, we introduced the Candela C-7 to prove that the future of boats depends on electric propulsion and actively stabilized hydrofoiling. Winning numerous awards, gaining great customer feedback, an making an international sales record, the C-7 surpassed our expectations. Now available only in limited numbers pre-owned, the C-7 is an icon among electric boats, that has inspired customers and competitors alike, worldwide.

C-7’s computer controlled Foil System offers an almost completely silent driving experience and a very smooth ride, even in choppy conditions.
Fully submerged foils lift the C-7 completely above the surface. The energy usage in 20 knots is comparable to 0,1 liter of gasoline per nautical mile.

Electric silence

Tranquil and non-polluting

Build

Efficiency and lightness

With experience from fighter jet technology and airplane design, we have designed Candela C-7 to be extremely light, while still rigid and strong. The hull is made of vacuum-infused carbon fiber, which allows the Candela C-7 to weigh significantly less than similar boats.

On a weight to strength ratio, carbon beats glass fiber by a wide margin.

Experience

Thrilling to drive

Once you have experienced C-7, it is hard to go back to a traditional petrol boat.

The driving experience and comfort were the prime focus areas when engineering the C-7, offering a quiet, smooth, and safe yet exciting ride. The computer-assisted trim makes driving as easy as holding the steering wheel, even in side-wind and rough weather.

C-7 is connected to the cloud, allowing for over-the-air updates and remote service to continuously optimize efficiency and performance.

All controls, including ones for retracting the hydrofoils, are accessible on the 12-inch touchscreen.

Range

3 x the range of other electric boats

Candela C-7 has a range of 50 nautical miles per charge traveling at 22 knots. The achieved range is about 3 times longer than the best electric boats currently on the market, except for the Candela C-8.

A full charge gives you enough energy to travel the entire San Francisco Bay.

Versatility

Fully retractable for shallow water

The foils and propulsion unit are retractable for trailing, storage and shallow water operation.

Tech

Propulsion unit

Early in the development of the Candela C-7, we realized that there was no drive train that could match the efficiency of our hydrofoil system.

Our proprietary, streamlined propulsion unit is one of many innovations that were needed to realize the C-7.

Avionics

C-7’s digital Flight controller uses ultrasonic sensors, gyros, accelerometers and gps to measure the position, speed and acceleration of the boat. The foils are automatically adjusted 100 times per second to ensure a smooth and safe ride.

The result is a sheltered experience for the passengers and a thrilling drive, even in strong winds and waves.

Foil system

Hydrofoils reduce friction, enable long electric range and offer a completely different experience from conventional boats.

Hydrofoils can be designed in different ways with varying efficiencies and behaviour. We have adopted the most efficient and precise solution possible – fully submerged foils, stabilized by computer power.

The in-house designed propulsion unit is unique in its very low hydrodynamic drag coefficient.

The Foil System fitted in Candela C-7 uses a very light design using carbon composites and design principles from the aviation industry.

Config

Sunbed

Aft sofa replaced by a sunbed, with an adjustable back-rest

Teak Deck

Teak covering the full deck, bow step, swim platforms and part of the freeboard for side entry.

Courtesy Lighting

12 courtesy lights placed around the interior of the boat. Dimmable through the touch screen.

Underwater Lighting

Blue or white lights located near the two front struts and in the aft. Usable while foiling for a dramatic effect.

Swim ladder

Extendable 3 step swim ladder, mounted on starboard swim platform.

Cruiser cover

Foldable cruiser cover with aluminum support rods. Usable in separate sections, for example as a spray hood, by detaching the aft section.

Recommended for non-sheltered waters where non-foiling cruising in heavy weather happens occasionally

Dedicated trailer

Including electric winch simplifying single person operation.

Aft teak table

Foldable teak table stow-able under the port-side dash compartment.

Footprint

Reducing local emissions by 100%

C-7 is a long-range, all-electric craft that travels silently above the surface. No emissions. No wake. No sound pollution or disturbance of marine life.

We designed Candela C-7 to be the most efficient boat ever built. At 20 knots, the energy usage per nautical mile is just 0,8 kWh. To put that into perspective, that’s the energy content of 0,1 liter of gasoline.

Marine traffic; both leisure and professional, is incredibly taxing for the environment, especially for local sea biotopes.
